What Adobe CS6 Should Be- One Modular Application.

What’s the worst thing about Adobe’s CS suites as a whole? In my opinion, it’s 10+ different RAM hungry behemoths, sometimes with a great amount of overlap in functionality. Need to encode a video? You should use Media Encoder. But you’ll need to fix the aspect ratio (or some other menial, yet complex, task). Then you [...]

You’ve Got Options: Optimizing Your Site for iPad

iPad optimization There’s no doubt that the iPad is a revolutionary device. It allows people to view content in a format that, until now, has never been so accessible. With an iPad, the web goes wherever you go—the kitchen, the corner coffee shop, or even the moon (space shuttle sold separately). You may be thinking, Well, [...]

QR! What is it good for?

Absolutely Something. Here at Pop Art, we like to embrace emerging technologies (Dave Selden is currently the world’s only Beenz millionaire). So with that in mind, we’re about to debut new business cards for all of Pop Art’s staff, with a very useful twist- QR codes. Let’s say Apple’s iPad takes off. It would be unrealistic to expect it to be as ubiquitous as the iPhone, but for the sake of argument let’s say somewhere between that and the Kindle. Thats reasonable isn’t it? Sure, the current impressions based on it’s debut are somewhat like that of the Segway, but the iPad [...]

#PABlazers: Leveraging and bridging communities

Twitter is the fastest growing network on the inter-tube-web today, and we are still developing an understanding of its potential.  I like that Southwest Airlines could help me out if I miss my flight, or that I may find Shaq in my town handing out free tickets-but what more could be done? Could you bridge [...]

Branding Matters: The new ITI

It takes 20 seconds for someone to decide to stay on a website- and that’s a generous assumption. It takes me personally about 5 seconds to decide if you’re second rate, and that’s all based on presence. The short and skinny of it is this: branding consistency matters. When I say branding consistency, I mean consistency [...]

The Keystone of Design

Build a house on a swamp and feel the wrath of bad foundation.  You could easily double your costs by back-tracking and reinforcing the structure and ground beneath— but really you should’ve just built it somewhere else. Design can be that house; built from scratch or cursed by a previous design. Deciding on what foundation [...]

Applescripting Productivity

Do you have a mac? Interested in maximizing productivity? Familiar with progamming? If so, you may already know the muscle of Automator and the blood that pumps it: Applescript. If the mention of programming is tempting you to browse off and away, I’ve included a pre-made script that may be worth it to you. My case for the [...]
