If you know me at all, you should know that I am a soccer junkie! Throughout my life, I’ve probably devoted more time on this sport than any other activity. So, it is very natural that when the World Cup is about to start I just get absolutely nervous. It is by far the biggest sports event of the planet and if you’re browsing the tube and trying to find a couple of reasons to watch this event. Here are my 5 reasons why you should watch it:

The first sports event to be broadcasted in 3D. Well, ESPN will be revealing their 3D broadcasting channel on June 11, the day before the kick-off. This is huge. It will change the way we watch television. Try to find the nearest pub that has the package, or invest a little money to see it firsthand.

Africa. For the first time ever the cup is in Africa. South Africa was given the chance of a lifetime to stimulate their economy in many different aspects.

The jerseys. I am not talking about the Jersey Shore here, I am talking soccer uniforms. The amount of money that goes into promoting soccer apparel during the cup is just incredible. Amongst my favorites this time: Australia, Spain, and obviously Brazil.

The ads. World Cup has been always tied to great advertisement. There is no better time to see your favorite multi-million dollar players in some of the most bizarre ads.

The best of the best. All the most talented players have a chance to show off their skills, and to show what they are made of. This sport event is about representing your country, wearing the colors that define you as a person. Every one of the players selected to go to the cup sees it as a blessing, and they will try to play at a much higher level than ever.
