SelecTrucks
We launched four new sites this month: Grand Rapids, Little Rock, Miami, and Nashville. Miami is a particularly striking design, heavily inspired by old cigar and fruit boxes. We were playing a bit of catch-up this month, but we managed to get back on our feet with a new production process that's resulting in these sites getting out the door quite a bit faster than before.
Detroit Diesel
I am very proud of this site. DDC is the first Pop Art site where I've done the template creation as well as production, so it was both a challenge and a lot of fun. I tried a lot of new things like heavy use of PNG transparency and sIFR headlines, but the bit I'm most proud of is that all the pages get a default style and look to them, and then nearly all the imagery and page layout tweaks happen through the CSS. Due to clever use of IDs and classes, I'm able to specifically target just about any element on any page, easily. So when Dave turns to me and says "can we add a photo to the background of this paragraph?", I can say yes, and do the job with just two lines of code.
It's a great-looking site, and the CSS code that produced it is valid and standards-compliant, with a lot of neat little tricks thrown in. I've learned a lot from working on this site, and I can't wait to apply that knowledge elsewhere in my work.
LP Field
I wasn't involved much in the production of this site, just in the later troubleshooting phase, but I'm including it here because I produced two email blasts that were heavily integrated into the new design, so I'm pretty familiar with the layout, and I had a lot of fun with it, even though it's suprisingly frustrating to go back to table-based layouts, even if it is just for an email.
Training
My training got really neglected, and I really don't feel like I learned much ASP stuff this month - something I hope to remedy in the coming month.
